'He said a few words, that I'm gonna keep private forever, that really touched my heart,' Tone tells Mixtape Daily.
By Rob Markman, with reporting by Ade Mangum
Fire Starter: Tone Trump
Essential info: It's no secret that Philadelphia is a hotbed for hip-hop talent. In the 1980s, it was Schoolly D who helped put Philly on the map with his 1986 hip-hop classic "P.S.K. What Does It Mean?" Of course, the Fresh Prince followed a few years later, then the Roots. In the late 1990s, Jay-Z introduced Beanie Sigel to the world, and Maybach Music's Meek Mill is currently the city's most recognizable rap figure.
Still more and more raw rap talent continues to break out of Illadelphia's borders, and the latest contender, Tone Trump, was handpicked by Young Jeezy. These days, a street rapper can't get a bigger co-sign.
"A couple of days ago, I officially signed my deal with Young Jeezy, CTE World, and [it's been] a lot of years of hard work, blood, sweat and tears, risking my life," Trump told Mixtape Daily when he was in New York on Wednesday. "I make street music and I just signed with the biggest street artist in the world."
"It would've been a dream come true to get a so-called record deal with any label probably, but not too many artists get to sign with their favorite rapper or their favorite artists," he said with much admiration. "When I was in the mix and coming up in the grind, his music got me and mines through a lot."
After TT and the Snowman collaborated on Trump's 2011 street single "Afghan," rumors began to swirl of a CTE signing, but the pair finally announced their union earlier this week. Jeezy, Trump and their now-unified crews celebrated over drinks. "It was a toast; it was a boss' toast," Tone said, setting the scene. "Snow, he bought about 40 bottles for the whole crew and it was like all rosé and it was one bottle of Ace of Spades, he put that to the side and gave it to me."
More than the deal, it was Jeezy's commitment that the Philly spitter really admires. "He said a few words, that I'm gonna keep private forever, that really touched my heart, and it meant a lot," Trump said. "I even took the bottle back home like a trophy."
Is Tone Trump's deal with Young Jeezy a good fit for the Philly rapper? Let us know what you think in the comments!

'I always think about that song that will be able to let you out of that slump,' Looking 4 Myself singer says on 'MTV First.'

<P>It's not often that fans get to hit the club to party <i>with</i> the artist behind the latest dance hit, but that's exactly what happened for the audience at the interactive <a href="/news/articles/1685172/usher-fuerza-bruta-rehearsal.jhtml">off-Broadway show "Fuerza Bruta"</a> when <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/usher/artist.jhtml">Usher</a> arrived for a unique first-listen experience for his new album, <i>Looking 4 Myself</i>.</P><P>As the R&B megastar's latest hit, the beat-driven Max Martin-produced <a href="/news/articles/1684071/usher-next-single-scream.jhtml">"Scream,"</a> pounded through the theater, Usher flew into the audience for a rave-like dance party that had everyone in the place moving.</P><P></p><div class="player-placeholder right" title="Usher Previews A Clip Of His 'Scream' Performance Video" id="vid:767987.id:1685137" width="415" height="255"></div><p></P><P>He's used to that sort of reaction by now, having released some of the biggest club hits of the past 15 years, including "OMG," "Yeah," "DJ Got Us Fallin' in Love" and "My Way." Singer dons cap and gown on episode of the talk show airing Wednesday.

<P>A few weeks back, <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/bieber_justin/artist.jhtml">Justin Bieber</a> officially became a <a href="/news/articles/1684665/justin-bieber-graduates-high-school.jhtml">high school graduate</a>. But given that he was schooled on the road, the 18-year-old didn't have the pleasure of donning a cap and gown at an official graduation ceremony.</P><P>So when he stopped by <a href="http://ellen.warnerbros.com/" target="_blank">Ellen DeGeneres' talk show</a> on an episode airing Wednesday (May 23), the comedian attempted to rectify the situation.</P><P>Finally getting the chance to wear a gown and a custom-made cap that hovers over his hair so as not to muss it up, Bieber was handed a diploma by DeGeneres, who told the room, "Good afternoon. Today is an important day. It's Dollar Taco Day at the Warner Bros. cafeteria. We're here to honor the accomplishment of the Biebs, a great American who happens to be from Canada. MTV News talks to 'So You Think You Can Dance' cast about Fox's decision to enlist the two pop stars for the reality singing show.
By Jocelyn Vena
<P><b>NEW YORK</b> — As the fall TV season continues to make news, Fox has had the most buzz thanks to the <a href="/news/articles/1685004/demi-lovato-x-factor-judge.jhtml">news that Demi Lovato</a> and <a href="/news/articles/1684879/britney-spears-x-factor-deal-judge.jhtml">Britney Spears will sit down</a> beside Simon Cowell and L.A. Reid as female judges on "The X Factor," replacing Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul.</P><P>On Monday (May 14), as talent from many of the network's leading shows lined up to talk to the press at the Fox event, what everyone really wanted to know was how these two artists might fit on the reality competition show.</P><P>Given that both have made names for themselves thanks to their own unique charms as pop stars, some of the more seasoned network vets offered up some sage advice for the reality show newbies. MTV News chatted with the folks of "So You Think You Can Dance," in the hours before the presentation where they were confirmed, to get their sage advice for Brit and Demi.</P><P></p><div class="player-placeholder right" title="'So You Think You Can Dance' Cast Weigh In On Britney Spears, Demi Lovato For 'X Factor'" id="vid:768829" width="415" height="255"></div><p></P><P>"You know, I don't have any advice for those ladies," "SYTYCD" host Cat Deeley explained. "What I do like about it though is they will be able to absolutely impart some serious wisdom. I love the idea that they've been in the business for so long and since being kids and so quite often they've had successes and they've had failures on things.</P><P>"And I think the most important thing is the mistakes we make," she added. "You learn so much from mistakes that you make and I think they'll be able to impart their wisdom to the new kids coming through. I think it's a great booking."</P><P>Judge Mary Murphy seemed excited by the chance to run into the girls at Fox-related events, and even shared that she'd love to see dancer Britney make an appearance on her show as well.</P><P>"So she would be a good [guest] too if she wanted to pop on over, but I think she's going to be a busy young woman with everything she has going on," she said. "I think we'll tune in to find out what the heck she's gonna say!" she said, going on to share some judging advice. "Just try to speak from the heart and you can't go wrong."</P><P>While Murphy and Deeley focused on the positive when it comes to their highly publicized judging spots, Nigel Lythgoe wondered if the singers (Britney, 30, and Demi, 19) might be too young for a mentor-type position.</P><P>"Well they've got to look on it as a brand-new show, to be frank. I don't think they need to look at the first season. I think they've got to be honest as they can be," he said of coming in for season two. "They're both artists and artists will always couch any criticism because they know that they've been criticized, so they've got to ignore that.</P><P>"They've got to be as honest as they can be with their contestants and just inspire them to be better," he said, before sharing his one hesitation about them.</P><P>"My only reservation is they're both young and I do think that mentors should be of an age," he added, joking he fears it might put older experts, like him, out of a job. "I do think mentors have had so much experience before they mentor. At the same time, both of these young ladies have had incredible personal experience and been through so much in their own lives that hopefully they can bring that to the party too. But at the end of the day, they are going to take newcomers and literally push them through a reality television competition. It's tough."</P><P><i>Do you think Demi Lovato and Britney Spears will make good judges on "The X Factor"? Leave your comment below!</i></p>

Out getting in some girl time Jenni ‘Jwoww’ Farley and Nicole ‘Snooki’ Polizzi were seen out and about in Tom’s River, New Jersey on Tuesday (May 29).
The “Jersey Shore” starlets rocked their usual jerseylicious funky looks with Jwoww sporting skinny jeans and knee high lace up wedge boots embellished with flowers while Snooki showed that pregnancy wasn’t keeping her out of her heels as she wore skin tight skinny jeans and platform caramel colored wedges.
Although the wild pair have been filming their own spin-off show, “Snooki and JWoww vs The World,” they are also gearing up to head back to the Jersey Shore to start filming for season 6 of the hard partying reality series.
Since the 24-year-old won’t be able to boost ratings from her normal drinking and partying habits, it looks like 495 Productions will be looking to new roommates for more drama. According to sources close to the production company, a search is underway to find new talent.

Celebs flocked to Atlantic City this Memorial Day weekend to see Beyonce make her big BACK TO BUSINESS return to the stage. And to do a little work, party it up and hit the beaches. We've got how Jennifer Hudson, Bey (of course), Luke James, Christina Milian & Kevin Hart spent their fab Holiday weekend inside...
Jennifer Hudson rocked a casual and cute black/yellow look to hit up Beyonce's last concert Monday night at the Revel Resort and Casino (a RIDICULOUSLY fab place by the way) in Atlantic City, NJ. Somebody looked happy to be out and about for the Holiday. And she tweeted about her former Dreamgirls co-star Queen Bey saying:
Omg best memorial day ever ! Glad I spent it at @Revelresorts at queen B concert ! Flawless!!
Sweet! Looking great Jenny!
And speaking of the woman of the weekend--Beyonce gave four flawless theatrical performances throughout four nights for her big return to the stage. The 30-year old isn't stopping there either. She told Sunday night's crowd (and we heard it with our own ears) she's back in the lab working on new music. Toward the end of the concert, she asked the crowd what they wanted to hear because she's ready to get back into the studio:
"What do y'all want? Y'all want to dance?! You want some ballads? A little rock & roll? Soul? How about I just do it all!"
We won't be complaining. She also told various audiences that she lost 60 pounds of post-baby weight recently by eating a strict diet (lots of lettuce) and lots of working out. And for a chick who performed--hard--for over 2 hours straight, with no intermission and only a couple minutes for costume changes, she couldn't help but melt off the baby weight. Chick looked simply fabulous this weekend.
By the way, First Lady Michelle Obama, who attended one of Bey's concerts this weekend, said on "Good Morning America" this mon:
“Anybody who’s got talent, I’m all for. But Beyoncé has just been a tremendous supporter of ‘Let’s Move!’ Without asking, she reformulated ['Get Me Bodied'] to do a flash mob for kids across this country.”
“Beyoncé stepped up in a way that so many of our celebrities and athletes are stepping up on behalf of this issue, so I love her to death and was glad to be out there moving my body with her."
Meanwhile, Beyonce's opening act--up and coming singer Luke James--was spotted partying it up inside Revel's Ultra Lounge:
The "I Want You" singer revealed that he was more than ecstatic to be tapped as her opener. And if you haven't heard him sing yet, get with it.
Elsewhere in Atlantic City, Christina Milian partied at The Pool After Dark at Harrah's Resort with Kim K. (not pictured):
Had this been anybody else, the outfit would have looked cheap. But we can't help but love cutie Chris.
And Kevin Hart, who performed at the Taj Mahal in Atlantic City Sunday night, tweeted his plaque after getting awarded on stage the Key to the City by the city's mayor, Lorenzo Langford.
And he tweeted how much fun he was having with his "rib" (as he called her) Oniko at Mrs. Carter's Saturday concert saying:
I'm watching Beyonce perform and I am speechless right now........her performance and production is amazing!!!! Woooooooow
Atlantic City nights with my RIB @Neekibaby
Loves it!

'The fans can expect whatever they want this season, they're not going to get it,' Anders Holm warns of new season, premiering Tuesday.

The cast of Workaholics

Comedy Central's truly excellent "Workaholics" makes its fully torqued return Tuesday night (May 29), kicking off its third season with an episode that sees Blake, Adam and 'Ders embark on a "business trip" of a different sort — namely, the kind that involves acid.
As the guys explained to MTV News, that's just the tip of the iceberg for the new season, which sees them taking on tough topics, whether their fans like it or not.
"We're really tackling some hard-hitting issues with the third season," Adam DeVine explained. "Obesity, ways to find drugs ... hygiene is a real issue too."
"The fans can expect whatever they want this season, they're not going to get it," Anders Holm deadpanned. "We're not going to give it to them."
As is the case for a show coming off a breakthrough second season — which saw them steal a dragon statue, terrorize a gated community and make tremendous advances in chewing tobacco on television (and was capped by DeVine's Adam Demamp being named one of MTV's Top 50 TV Characters of 2011) — the "Workaholics" plan to swing for the fences with their new season by totally changing everything you've come to love about the show.
"We're jumping the shark; after the fifth episode, we're going to hire movie stars to play us," DeVine said. "I have Matt Damon, he's gaining 60 pounds. Wilford Brimley is playing Kyle [Newachek's water-trashy Kyle Hevacheck]. And we just got a really cute-looking cat to play Blake. And 'Ders is no longer on the show at all."
That newfound clout is also evident in a pair of guest stars who will show up later this summer: none other than the Black Keys, who play "ponytailed dirtbags" and who have struck up a rather unlikely — and slightly soul-crushing — friendship with the "Workaholics" crew since filming their cameo.
"We've just sort of stayed in touch, texting and stuff," DeVine said. "It's cool to see their lives. I'll text them and be like, 'Hey, what's up, man?' and they're like, 'Oh, just in Europe. Fifty-thousand people tonight. Pretty crazy.' And I'm like, 'Well, um, we shot a scene in Van Nuys today with 40 dudes my dad's age working lights, and I had a fake erection.' "

Kate Middleton joined her grandmother-in-law, Queen Elizabeth, for a special event in London today. The ladies were among the many who turned out for a royal tea party at Buckingham Palace. 8,000 people were in attendance, as were Kate's in-laws Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles. Kate was lovely, as usual, in a pink dress. It was the same Emilia Wickstead coatdress that she wore less than two weeks ago for drinks with William and Harry at Waterloo Chamber in honor of a royal dinner for heads of state.
The event was held ahead of the official opening of the Queen's Jubilee, a special celebration being held to honor Elizabeth's 60 years on the throne. The tea party is actually held annually to honor those who do public service, and this year's timing couldn't have been better. The Queen's grandsons, Princes William and Harry, even gave special interviews ahead of the Jubilee's start. William and Harry spoke with Katie Couric about their grandmother, and their whole chat airs this evening on ABC.

'What is this? This is dirty!' Drita D'Avanzo exclaims after reciting a passage of 'Fifty Shades' for MTV News.

Filth or sensual fan fiction? It's impossible not to have an opinion on E L James' erotic New York Times best-seller "Fifty Shades of Grey." Single ladies, girlfriends and housewives have all been drawn to the steamy novel — not to mention "Mob Wives." VH1 reality star Carla Facciolo hasn't read the current "it" book, but she gets the gist of it.
"To me, it's like a sex book," she told MTV News in an attempt to describe the "50 Shades" phenomenon. "Grey is a guy that every girl wants; he's like a dream guy and he seduces."
Carla's synopsis was enough to whet the appetite of her "Mob Wives" pal Drita D'Avanzo, who immediately let her curiosity get the best of her. "I wanna read it," Drita blurted out.
Lucky for the reality-show beauty, MTV News had a copy of the book on hand for her to sample. "It's very intense," Carla warned.
Still, Drita opened the book and began her moment of "Fifty Shades" discovery. "Get off the bed, stand over here," D'Avanzo read from one of the book's later chapters, in which playboy Christian Grey introduces his naive lover Anastasia Steele to a kinky sexual experience. "He holds out his hand and in his palm are two shiny balls linked with a thick, black thread," Drita continued to read before she stopped herself, shocked by the sexual suggestiveness.
"What the f--- is this?" Drita questioned in her unmistakable Staten Island, New York, accent. "They're ass beads? What is this? This is dirty — what the hell is this?"
"Fifty Shades" wasn't Drita's cup of tea, but maybe she will change her mind when the book is adapted into a film (Universal Pictures has already secured the rights). "How do you even know about this, Carla?" she asked, chastising her buddy. "You, for even knowing about that book, I gotta think twice about you."
Carla had only one reasonable explanation: "It's the hottest book out right now."

Chris Hayes, a political commentator on MSNBC, has created quite a stir - on Memorial Day of all days - for remarks he made yesterday in regard to the designation of military personnel as "heroes."
The journalist said he feels "uncomfortable" throwing that word about because it is "so rhetorically proximate to justifications for more war." In other words: How can we refer to someone as heroic if we disagree with the cause for which he or she died?
It certainly seems like an odd way to make a point about war. Surely we can differentiate between policy and the troops carrying out that policy in the name of a country they love, can't we? Watch the clip and form your own opinion.
Should Chris Hayes apologize for these comments?

We're sorry to say it, ladies, but: Phillip Phillips has a girlfriend. And he's head over heels for the unnamed brunette.
"She is so excited for me," the 21-year old told reporters in a conference call yesterday. "She supported me throughout all of this, and I love her to death."
Phillip added that his gal pal has helped him immensely through his kidney ailment - it came out this week that Phillips underwent EIGHT surgeries during season 11 and is due for one in the near future - and if female voters out there have a problem with his heart being taken, well...
... too bad!
"If a girl [voted] for me because I'm cute, and then gets mad that I have a girlfriend, then she doesn't really like the music," he said. "I'm not some cute guy who is trying to be successful off that. I really want the music to come first."
So, why did YOU vote Phillip Phillips for American Idol winner?
